“IT’S TRULY NO EXAGGERATION TO SAY THAT THIS GROUP TRANSFORMED MY EXPERIENCE OF MOTHERHOOD.. TALKING, SHARING, BONDING. BEING IN COMMUNITY. WE NEED MORE SPACES LIKE THIS IN THE WORLD.”

OTHER COMMUNITY INTEREST GROUPS I AM INVOLVED WITH

BATH HOME BIRTH GROUP

I have run this group for over 12 years now. We have moved from monthly meet ups in a local hall, to now being a supportive WhatsApp group for sharing stories, equipment and support and a monthly online meeting to hear a gorgeous birth story and ask plenty of questions. It’s the most wonderful supportive space and it’s an honour to hear poeple’s stories, how the community has helped them, and the friendships made as well. I also have several birth pools we have been given over the years, that I loan out to local families for free. If you’d like to find out more about the group, borrowing a pool, or home birth in general, then please send me an email.

BLOSSOM IN BATH

I run Blossom in Bath with my dearest friend (and Doula!) Noreen Hart. Between us we have over half a decade of experience supporting families, and Noreen brings her immense wisdom as a mother, grandmother, NCT facilitator, perinatal campaigner and hypnobirthing practitioner. For many years we have run Early Mothering together, and in the last 3 years, the pregnancy cafe, early pregnancy workshops, antenatal sessions and also our online sessions through Blossom antenatal as well. Much of what we offer is free or low cost, and we feel passionately about connecting families and creating community. I am so very fond of every family with whom our paths have crossed over the years. It really does take a village to raise a child and some of the friendships and connections made are so incredibly heartening.

Pregnancy cafe generally meets the first Friday of the month at Hartley farm in Bradford on Avon and Boston tea Party in Bath. Our workshops run several times a year, and we have an online session almost every week (including a free online relaxation every Monday night!)

We pop everything on our social media page, and have a rage of whatsapp groups you can join to connect with local families.

MARY THE MIDWIFE IN GHANA

A group of women standing outside a yellow building, smiling, wearing colorful traditional and casual clothing, with palm trees in the background.

I am so proud to support Mary via the fabulous charity Teabag. Mary is an extraordinary and inspirational woman who supports thousands of families in her community of Magkwadze in rural Ghana. From pregnancy, birth, parenthood to babies, children, adolescents and adults, everyone is touched by her care. We were even lucky enough to have Mary visit us in the UK in the summer of 2025…we all learned so much from her and had a fantastic time listening to her stories and wisdom..

Mary adopted one of her childre, Yaa Ya, after her mother died in childbirth. We are proud to support the Yaaya Baby Bath scheme which provides a baby bath filled with essential items to support new Mothers and babies under Mary’s care.
